How to Choose Cosmetic Bags for Your Brand

Start with what your customer needs to carry, then choose a shape, material and colour palette that fits your collection. A useful sample is more valuable than a long shortlist of similar bags.

Choose the everyday job first

A small pouch for handbag essentials has a different job from a vanity bag for a full beauty routine. Before selecting a style, list the items it should hold: lipstick, brushes, compacts, skincare bottles or travel toiletries. Measure the largest item and check the opening as well as the external dimensions.

For a retail collection, consider a compact everyday pouch alongside a larger organiser. These offer different uses without relying only on extra colours to create variety.

Match the shape to the contents

A flat pouch suits a slimmer assortment of small essentials. A box-shaped pouch offers more depth, while a handled vanity bag is worth considering when customers want to carry several products together. Internal pockets can separate small items, but their placement should be checked with the items your customer actually uses.

Check a sample before planning the range

• Load the bag with the intended products and check that the zip closes comfortably.
• Check the opening, lining, seams and any internal pockets.
• Review the colour and logo size in normal lighting.
• Confirm the specifications, packaging and quantities for each colour.
